NR Studios was formed by Ben Lakin, who now heads up the NR with his wife, Annie. Formally known as No Regrets, it was formed nine years ago on Cheltenham high street. With 13 artists, it’s one of the biggest tattoo studios in the UK. NR Studios originally built its reputation for client satisfaction and high quality artistry at our Cheltenham location and soon expanded the studios to Exeter. Our new art gallery and NR tattoo studio London is set to follow in the same footsteps, creating outstanding bespoke pieces for our clients.
Our wide range of knowledge and expertise means we have a variety of talented artists working for NR, providing designs such as:
Some of the greatest names in black and grey realism found a home at NR Studios Cheltenham including artists such as Bacanu Bogdan, Danny Romano and Georgi Kodzhabashev. As one of the most popular modern tattooing sensations, this trio bring the highest of standards to their work.
All three of our studios were built with style in mind, taking on the theme of ‘effortless and timeless’. Picture copper plated tables, bare filament bulbs and steel cupboards, and you’ll be right at home in our studio. Artists’ stations have been designed specifically for their needs, with tattooing chairs provided by Tatt Soul – some of the best on the market. Comfort is key so we ensure our studios are light, spacious and comfortable seating provided in both waiting and artistry zones. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned tattoo collector or a first timer, we’ll put you at ease in our relaxed environment. You’ll initially be greeted by our superb front of house team, who are always on hand with coffee, cups of tea and soft drinks as well as giving knowledgeable advice and support to our clients. This is essential for when you first come in, as you may want to look at tattoo options with experienced help at hand.
The NR name has had some incredible support, with our tattoo artists getting recognition for their talent, potential and value. The support received from brands and companies has helped us make us what we are today. This includes includes World Famous Ink, Sorry Mom and Hustle Better Deluxe. To achieve high quality work, the highest quality materials are required, so we ensure our artists are supplied with the best products on the market.
While we have a strong team of residents, we never shy away from inviting guest artists to join us in our studios from around the world. This includes the likes of Michael Tauget, Mike Boyd and Alex Petcu, working closely with them to see what we can learn from each other. Each brings their own unique artistry and approach to bring fresh ideas to both new and seasoned clients. Take a look at our website and social media to stay up to date with who we’re bringing in to our studios.
Our Tattoo Studio London Services
In the last decade, tattooing has developed immensely, shifting in focus towards the endless possibilities when translating incredible artwork onto skin. It’s about blending the space between the tattoo artist and their client, letting collaboration take hold of key parts of the process from sharing ideas through to offering a space for artists to work freehand.
Our Tattoo London Artists:
With a commitment to developing artistry and the skills of our tattoo studio London based artists, NR Studio enables its talent to pursue the work they’re truly interested in. This brings out the best in their creativity and enables them to fully immerse themselves in a particular niche, giving you the high standard of service.
Just two of our London studio artists include:
Ryan Smith, one of our tatoo artist London studio based workers has created an outstanding niche from combining colour realism with mandala/hennism. His clean and bold colours, alongside his intricate linework have made him stand out from the crowd. Known fondly as ‘the scientist’, Ryan experiments with colour and style combinations to create completely unique pieces every time.
Razvan Rosca is another of our tattoo shop London based artists who has pioneered a different path through his A-void project. This involves creating large scale, abstract pieces which give the instinct impression of charcoal or pencil work. Specialising in realism and black and grey, Razvan adds a dark twist to his pieces, influenced by nature and the human mind.
The Customer Process
Ben and Annie have implemented an enquiry process which allows NR’s clients to understand what’s happening at every stage of the tattooing process. Starting with our easy to navigate website, anyone can take a look through our artist’s impressive portfolios of their latest and best work. Our enquiry form allows clients to share their ideas and choose a preferred artist. Experienced artists can create tattoos in multiple styles, but each of our artists have a specialist area, so it’s ideal to be matched with the best person for your designs. For those who don’t have a preference, once we’ve looked at your idea, we’ll guide and advise on the right artist for that style of tattoo.
In summary, our process involves:

Our ethos is to provide our customers with as much information up front as we can. This allows you to make a well-informed, educated decision about how to proceed. We use modern applications to manage our diary so that customers can easily get in touch if they have any issues to discuss.
Our Finance Option:
At NR Studios, we put the needs of our clients at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’re currently the only tattoo studio in the UK offering finance on our tattoo services, making them accessible for all. We don’t believe luxury should come to the select few, appreciating the fact our clientele come from all walks of life and that we get to meet so many different people. We use Omni Capital to give our clients the option of spreading the cost of their tattoo over 6, 12 or 24 months. If you would like to take advantage of any of these options, our front of house team will guide you through each step of the application process, making it as hassle-free as possible. For more information, we also have a dedicated section on our website which gives clear and concise facts about your finance options, as well as a handy calculator so you can work out the best choice for you.
When the digital age exploded, social media became part of every industry, and the tattooing world is no different. Sites like Pinterest and Instagram help our clients find great ideas for their tattoos by looking at artwork from hundreds of artists from around the globe, bringing together shared concepts and ideas. It’s also allowed the tattoo industry to find a new stream of followers with pictures of artwork speaking for themselves, often with a simple caption underneath. A whole new audience has opened their mind to this fantastic industry, demonstrating the various styles and possibilities available. Our artists have a combined following on Instagram of over 150,000 fans. We post regularly to our pages, displaying the latest work from our talented artists. We also keep our followers up to date with the latest diary openings, guest artists and events including any competitions and upcoming conventions.
As the tattoo industry grows and evolves, it’s not just the online world that’s changing. Conventions are becoming more popular, giving the public a chance to see some of the most talented tattoo artists at work. The largest conventions are a serious business, with tens of thousands of people coming to see hundreds of artists over a several-day event. When else can you see some of the world’s most prestigious tattoo artists create such a diverse range of designs? These extravaganzas put on an entertaining display with live music, competitions and entertainment all commonplace at each convention. You can even visit these events close to our tattoo studio London including the world famous London Tattoo Convention.
Competitions at each convention allow skilled artists to showcase their work and gain recognition for their talent. There are often different categories which can be won, and this includes ‘Best Black and Grey’ or ‘Best of the Day’. Here at NR Studios, we can proudly say our artists have won many awards across the various categories. Ryan Smith has even won ‘Best of Show’ and ‘Best of Day’ at some of the most prestigious events around. He also recently collaborated with our new tattoo studio London artist Jay Freestyle at the Milano Tattoo Convention, going on to win Best of Show.
The tattoo industry has worked hard to shed some of the stigmas attached to it. Long gone are the days tattooing was seen as a lone wolf industry where ‘dog eat dog’ was part of its stereotype. Camaraderie is part and parcel of the industry, with artists actively seeking to work with each other to push their artistry to the next level. Collaborations can bring out new and fresh concepts, and they’re becoming more popular than ever before in the tattooing world. The endless combinations mean NR Studios is presenting work which is completely unique, and each design has never been seen before. We want to keep pushing artistic boundaries to raise the bar on quality and creativity.
Tattooing is increasing in demand, meaning the number of artists and studios you can go to is increasing. Customers deserve to have the best experience possible when they make such a personal decision. Our premium level of customer service sets us apart from many other tattoo studios out there, with our setup based around client needs. Each tattooing station is even equipped with a flat screen TV and wireless earphones, allowing our clients to sit back and listen to music or watch a bit of Netflix during their sessions.
Expansion has always been part of our plan at NR Studios. We originally set artistry and quality standards in Cheltenham, opening our doors next in Exeter. Ben and Annie thought it was only right that the next move should be to the Big Smoke, having built up a local and national reputation. Location was key for our next tattoo studio London, and we’re proud to be located on Minerva Street which is in the heart of Hackney. As one of the most groundbreaking and artistic capital cities in the world, we want this studio to become part of the pioneering developments happening in the tattoo industry. With both a gallery curator and onsite photographer, our studio and art gallery in London is closing the gap between traditional art mediums such as sculptures and painting with tattooing.
